United Way mobilizes Southern Idaho to action so all can thrive.

True to our founding spirit, whenever there is a need in our communities, United Way is there. We bring a comprehensive approach to every challenge, actively listening and responding to local needs. Our reach across tens of thousands of communities means we can share innovations and scale impact to improve lives around the world. From strengthening local resilience to advancing health, youth opportunity, and financial security, we're working towards a future where every person in every community can reach their full potential.

Through careful research, United Way identifies the biggest local needs. To meet those needs, United Way brings together people and organizations with the passion, expertise, and resources necessary to improve our community. We've provided more than $3.1 million to impact in the 11 counties we serve in Southern Idaho and Northern Nevada since 2020. Through careful research, United Way identifies the biggest local needs. Some highlights from 2024:

  • Since its launch, the findhelpidhao.org platform has supported 277,463 searches connecting people to free or reduced-cost resources like housing, food, transportation and healthcare in 100 languages. United Way serves on the state steering committee alongside our partner St. Luke's Magic Valley.
  • Through generous grant support from Chobani, and the help of community partners of Mondelez International, Glanbia and Albertson's, United Way of South Central Idaho has helped fed more than 400,000 people in the Magic Valley.
  • United Way of South Central Idaho has delivered hundreds of hygiene products, school supplies, snacks and more than 500 backpacks to local school districts in the Magic Valley and Minidoka region. We've also provided 12 eye exams and 12 pairs of glasses for children in need in Jerome.
  • Our Dolly Parton Imagination Library, supported by St. Luke's Magic Valley, served 727 children, ensuring a monthly subscription to high-quality books delivered a family reading opportunity.
  • Our partnership with Magic Valley Early Learning Collaborative ensured 1,042 families received Idaho Kids Love to Learn and Ready for Kindergarten Kits in English and Spanish.
  • Our collaborative team hosted the first Early Learning Expo to assist 200 families with early learning resources with community partners to start Kindergarten out right.
  • Our first Day of Caring, presented by First Federal Bank, allowed us to record 629 volunteer hours to clean, organize and refurbish E Street Community Center, create blankets for the homeless, clean up the Canyon, build a garden, and support Valley House, a nonprofit aiding people in transition.

It's about change that's built to last for generations. We do this by:

  • Improving early education, so that every child is ready for school.
  • Helping people achieve financial stability and get working families on the road to economic stability.
  • Promoting healthy lives for children and adults through preventive action and access to care.
Southern Idaho has a 45% poverty rate, so we know our goals are ambitious, but with your help, and by utilizing our core strengths - a national network, committed partners and public engagement capacity - we can achieve them.
